Dog Days of Summer event to be held July 22

July is National Parks and Recreation month, and the Calhoun Recreation Department is hosting the Dog Days of Summer fundraising event on Saturday, July 22 from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Calhoun Park, located on McDaniel Station Road in Calhoun.

The event will include vendors, demos and various contests, which begin at 10:30 a.m., for pooches and their owners, including Fastest in Calhoun Small Breed, Fastest in Calhoun Large Breed, Best Costume, Owner Pet Look-a-Like, Only a Face a Mother Could Love and Best Trick.

Registration for the contestss can be made prior to the day, or 30 minutes prior to the contest.

All contest entries are $5 per contest, per dog. All money raised will go to the Gordon County Animal Shelter.

Booths are available for rent that day for $20 per vendor/rescue group/local club.

Donations will be accepted throughout the day for both the Calhoun and Gordon County Animal Shelters.
