CRBI’s River Revelry returns Aug. 26 with live music, taco take down and celebrity lip sync contest

The Coosa River Basin Initiative’s annual end-of-summer river celebration, River Revelry—A Biodiversity Bash, returns Aug. 26 to Heritage Park in downtown Rome with live music, a Taco Take-Down and a celebrity lip sync contest.

Tickets for the event, which runs from 6-10 p.m. on grounds overlooking the Coosa River, are now available online at www.coosa.org. Tickets are $45 or $40 each for two or more tickets.

New to the event this year will be live music from Bennie Gray and the Trailer Park Cowboys, a Rome-based country-rock group, and a Taco Take-Down food competition.

The Taco Take Down will pit local chefs against one another to see who can create the most lip-smacking taco.

Patrons can wash down the tacos with wine from Barefoot Wine and Bubbly and locally-produced beer from the Rome City Brewing Co.

Adding to the celebration will be a lip sync showdown featuring local celebrity lip syncers. The contestant who garners the most donations to CRBI for their performance will be declared the winner.

Boat rides on the Roman Holiday and silent and live auctions will round out the evening.

Proceeds from the event support CRBI’s efforts to protect North America’s most biologically unique river basin, the source of drinking water for about one million people in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama.

“The Biodiversity Bash is a chance for us to give a shout out to the 30 critters that live in our rivers and streams and nowhere else in the world,” said CRBI Executive Director, Jesse Demonbreun-Chapman. “We live in a special place and this party celebrates our rivers and our hometown communities.”

Sponsors of the event include Ball Corporation, Rome City Brewing Co., Barefoot Wine, Eagle Rock Distributing, Mitigation Management, Mount Vernon Mills, WLAQ/95.7 The Ridge, The Finnell Firm, 7 Visuals, Fast Printing and Signs, V3 Magazine and Venue Dog

CRBI is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and member of the international Waterkeeper Alliance. Its mission is to inform and empower citizens to protect, preserve and restore North America’s most biologically unique river basin.
