For the second year in a row, a Calhoun Elementary School team clinched the Odyssey of the Mind state championship in Columbus, Georgia on April 1 and will be heading to the World Finals competition.

This year, the World Finals competition will be held at Michigan State University with teams from all over the world competing in long term problems and spontaneous problems.

The CES 2017 winning team is a seven member team consisting of five fifth-grade students and two fourth-grade students with only one veteran Odyssey member.

These members are fifth graders Gabe Thomason, Jacob McBrayer, Kevyn Jones, Katie Reynolds and Abby Redwine. The fourth graders are Bella Peek and Isaac Henderson. Their coach is CPES Discovery teacher, Angie Gravitt.

The boys and girls are very excited about this opportunity and the opportunity to perform for and compete with a global audience is a true once in a lifetime experience they will always remember.
