On Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, retired educator and former school superintendent Skipper Stewart briefed the Calhoun Rotary about the upcoming Special Purpose Local Optional Sales Tax vote. Stewart spoke on behalf of the Gordon County Economic Development Committee. Stewart reviewed the projects funded and completed by the last SPLOST, which has led to infrastructure and civic improvements in the area. He then listed the specific projects that are planned if the next SPLOST vote if approved by voters.Also attending the meeting were guests Gary Holcomb and his wife, Michelle, who is a Rotarian of the Fountain Hills Club, Arizona. The couple was guests of Bruce Thomas.
