Calhoun Little Theater brings “Christmas Belles” to the stage of the Harris Arts Center beginning Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, with five total performances being offered.
Performances on Nov. 10, 11, 17 and 18 will begin at 7 p.m. and a performance on Nov. 12 will begin at 3 p.m.
Directing the play, Wendell Barnes has has three previous productions at CLT under his belt: “Dearly Beloved,” “Southern Hospitality” and “Dividing the Estate,” all coincidentally set in Texas. He also has successfully directed 40 other productions, most recently for the Monroe (LA) Little Theatre, where his production of the musical “Nice Work If You Can Get It” won Best Production of the 2016-2017 season. He has won four other Roman awards for directing at the Rome Little Theatre. Co-director of the production is Sandy Davis and it is produced by Clare Lewis by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Services. This production is made possible by our generous 2017-18 Season Sponsor Cathy Camp Bomar.
The “Christmas Belles” production is described as “a church Christmas program that spins hilariously out of control” in this Southern farce about the squabbling Futrelle sisters, family secrets, a surly Santa, a vengeful sheep and a reluctant Elvis impersonator.
This is the second of a trilogy of plays about the Futrelle sisters, which began with “Dearly Beloved” and ends with “Southern Hospitality.”
The cast includes LeAnna Wade as Miss Geneva Musgrave, Coleen Brooks as Honey Raye Futrelle, Taylor Proctor as Gine Jo Dubberly, Calvin Smith as John Curtis Buntner, Marie Kindred as Twink Futrelle, Bruce Watson as Dub Dubberly, Mary Ortwein as Frankie Futrelle Dubberly, Caryn Sims as Rhonda Lynn Lampley, Colt Chambers as Justin Waverly, Jim Curry as Raynerd Chisum, and Ginger McClure as Patsy Price,
