Calhoun Autism Network holding special event for families touched by autism

The Calhoun Autism Network will be hosting a Back-to-School Bash at the Sonoraville Recreation Department on Monday, July 31 from 6 - 8 p.m. for all families and children in the Greater Calhoun-Gordon County Area who have been touched by autism in their lives.

The bash will have inflatables, school supplies, food, refreshments, additional resources and various representatives from several organizations.

The Calhoun Autism Network began in December of 2016 as a support group led by school staff members at Calhoun City Schools; however, it has evolved into a community based, parent-led organization that meets monthly at Echota Baptist Church.

Recently, the Calhoun Autism Network became an affiliate of the Autism Society of Georgia. The Autism Society of Georgia is an affiliate of the Autism Society of America, which is the oldest grassroots organization within the nation’s autism community.

The mission of the Calhoun Autism Network is to improve the quality of life for those touched by autism in the Greater Calhoun-Gordon County Area by providing resources and a support network. The Back to School Bash is a free event and is an excellent opportunity for those searching for an autism support group of children, parents, professionals, and other community members.

The Calhoun Autism Network looks forward to seeing you and your children on July 31. For more information, please call 770-608-2822 or contact the Calhoun Autism Network via Facebook at Facebook.com/CalhounAutismNetwork.
