Boy Scout Troop 22 recently visited the Calhoun Fire Department’s training center on Executive Drive. They were there to meet with Georgia Search and Rescue professionals who demonstrated equipment and discussed procedures and methods used in emergency situations.
The Scouts attending are working to complete their Search and Rescue Merit Badge, as well as preparing the troop itself to be ready should they ever be needed in an actual event.
In preparation for this visit, the Scouts had training during meetings and guest speakers who had genuine experience in these areas. Later this month, Troop 22 will conduct a ‘Practical Scenario’ exercise during which they will implement their training in a ‘real-time’ atmosphere.
Troop 22 is sponsored by Calhoun First United Methodist Church.
