“The Coolest Thing You’ll Do All Year” to raise funds for Coulter Hampton Foundation

The fifth annual Polar Bear Plunge will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at Salacoa Park, located at 388 Park Drive NE in Ranger.

The fundraising event is held each New Year’s Day to benefit children in Northwest Georgia who are living with serious illness.

The event is sponsored by The Coulter Hampton Foundation, named for the late Gordon County resident Coulter Hampton, who was born with Dyskeratosis Congenita, a rare, progressive bone marrow failure disorder. Since Coulter’s death, the Coulter Hampton Foundation has helped more than 50 families in the Gordon County area who have children who are seriously ill.

The whole community is invited to take a quick dip in Salacoa Lake on New Year’s Day; those 18 and under must have the signature of a parent or guardian to participate.

For adults and older students wishing to participate, the cost is $25; those aged 12 and under cost $20. Additional donations are also accepted. T-shirts will be given out as long as supplies last.
