The Ringgold baseball team got a huge surprise on Thursday at Heritage.

The Tigers, who held an open practice while preparing to play in the first round of the Class AAA State Playoffs on Friday, were welcomed with a Ringgold rug on the outfield fence and the team's logo on the field behind home plate.

Ringgold head coach Brent Tucker said the plan to turn Heritage into the Tigers' home-away-from-home was orchestrated by Heritage head coach Eric Beagles.

"We were very surprised," he said. "Coach Beagles didn't want it, but he got a big hug."

Tucker said the Tigers are in "good spirits" and ready to make somenoise with Riverwood on Friday.

The Blue-and-White are set to play at 3 p.m. following Senior Day recognition at 2:45 p.m.
